I just had a new water filter installed. We moved into a house with lead pipes so it really had to be done. But there are many other reasons why filtered tap water is better than bottled water.

Read on and find out why.

Our planet re-uses the same water over and over. This means that any chemical we use eventually winds up in the water we drink. Our drinking water becomes contaminated by agricultural runoff, household chemicals, lawn chemical, gasoline, dry cleaning solvents and drugs. areas with the highest levels of these synthetic organic chemicals (SOCs) in their water supplies also have the highest incidence of cancer. Filtering tap water can remove SOCs.

//-->

40% of all bottled water is ordinary tap water from a city water system and regulation of bottled water is inadequate.

Bottled water is expensive. It costs from $1 to $4 a gallon for the perception of purity.

It is very bad for the environment. Plastic bottles and transportation of water, sometimes from across the globe, are unnecessary and harmful to our planet.

For even more reasons read our water page.

I’m one of the lucky ones in a fairly secure job on a decent wage, but with the current state of the economy, I save money where I can. I’m always amazed by the price differences in skin care. It’s very easy to get caught up in the marketing hype, after all, who doesn’t want perfect youthful wrinkle free skin forever? But, if you have a skin condition that is caused by something in your diet, even the most expensive skin creams won’t work. Read on for tips on how to take care of your skin and health and save money too!

Take a look at what you’re eating and cut out the junk, the processed food, the mystery meat, and the refined sugars and carbs. Read Dr. Weil’s books and website. Eat healthy, stay active, relax and enjoy life.

If you invest in your health by living a healthy lifestyle, you’ll look great, your skin will glow and you’ll save on fancy skin care products and doctor bills.

Another way to save money is to take care of your teeth. I’ve put quite a bit of information on this site about dental care. It’s based on how I have stopped boneloss, receding gums, brittle teeth, decay and hypersensitivity. For the past 3 years I have only had regular check ups with my dentist – no more gum treatments, root canals, fillings or extractions. More here…

Another great way to save money (and help the environment) is to stop buying bottled water. Get a water filter and enjoy the benefits of pure water on your health. I’ve saved a few old bottles in various sizes – I fill them up and have them with me when I’m out. More here…

Back to skin care… I was using coconut oil mixed with a bit of almond oil. Over time, I noticed my t-zone looking a bit unclear so I’m trying store products bought on sale, of course.

I still use coconut oil to massage around my eyes. It feels great and keeps the wrinkles away, which is just as much about the massage as it is about the oil! The massage technique is from the ‘Complete System of Self Healing: Internal Exercises’ by Stephen T. Chang.

Complete System of Self Healing: Internal Exercises

I do miss my Dermalift, but I feel better when I’m saving these days…

I love when the BBC reports on what I’ve posted 5 months ago. I’m just catching the news and the environmental effects of bottled water have hit the headlines: NYC has launched a campaign to get people to stop buying bottled water and return to tap water. This is great news for people who care about the environment. It’s fantastic that NYC is leading the way and getting positive coverage from the BBC can make a real difference here in the UK.

In 1986, the National Academy of Sciences estimated that 200 to 1000 people may die in the United States each year from cancers caused by drinking or eating foods prepared in chlorinated water.

Then Dr. Julian Andelman of the University of Pittsburgh found that the major threat caused by these water pollutants is far more likely to occur as air toxins in the home. He discovered that, in the shower, hot water will liberate about 50% of dissolved chloroform and 80% of dissolved TCE into the air. Both the heat of the water and the large surface-to-volume ratio of small droplets increase vaporization. Chlorine, TCE, chloroform, benzene, and other dangerous chemicals are readily absorbed through the lungs into the bloodstream, thus contributing to the effects of asthma.

According to the U.S. Council of Environmental Quality‚ “Cancer risk among people using chlorinated water is as much as 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine.”

So why do we still use chlorine to purify water? Chlorine is not the most effective and it is certainly not the safest way to purify water – it’s the cheapest. Talk about a false economy. If chlorine, as the scientific research shows, is the cause of so much disease, it must be costing us a fortune in health care.

You don’t have to put up with chlorine in your water. Buy an Aquasana water filter and shower filter at 20% to 40% off. Keep youself and your family safe from chlorine.

If you’re already filtering your water please let us know what system you use and why.

Check out our water page for more information about why pure water is important to your health.
