How 2 Lose Weight

Despite diets, pills, weight loss programs, products and supplements, 300,000 people die in the USA every year because they are obese. That’s 25,000 people per month, 5,769 per week, 821 per day, 34 per hour. 60% of the population is overweight or obese. Obesity is the number one cause of cancer in non-smokers.

Why is it that so many people today are dieting yet the numbers of overweight and obese people are growing? Why has weight loss become a losing battle in the USA and the UK?

  1. Years of dieting have been shown to actually slow metabolism and lead to weight gain. Our bodies respond to scarcity by storing what is scarce. If we starve ourselves, we go into survival mode and store fat.
  2. Low fat diets don’t work. Low fat products tend to contain more carbohydrates. Carbohydrates trigger insulin secretion and insulin controls fat production. It tells your body to turn the food you eat into fat and also prevents your body from burning stored fat. The more carbohydrates you eat, the more insulin you produce, the more fat you form, particularly around your abdomen. A low-fat diet can cause food cravings and overeating and can undermine your best efforts to lose weight.
  3. Eating too much of the wrong food at the wrong time of day.
  4. Diets are hard to stick to for most people. They can be complicated, required expensive supplements and products, and can cause cravings making it impossible to stick with them.
