  1. Your weight is a balancing act, but the equation is simple: If you eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight. And if you eat fewer calories than you burn, you lose weight.

  2. This is true, of course. Add to this, however, that the body metabolizes different foods differently, and other factors such as exercise and fat to muscle ratio, and you have a more complex equation.
