Mouthwash recipe that costs just pennies! The best way to way to battle periodontal disease is to kill bacteria in your mouth. You do this by keeping your teeth clean by brushing with Tooth Soap, flossing, using inter-dental brushes and then rinsing with a mouthwash that kills bacteria including plaque bacteria. Most mouthwashes contain glycerin which may prevent your teeth from rebuilding enamel. These should be avoided. Few mouthwashes contain hydrogen peroxide which kills plaque bacteria. Read our Dental Care pages for information on how poor dental care can cause heart disease.
Good quality mouthwashes are expensive especially alcohol-free mouthwashes. You can make your own mouthwash for just pennies that works as well as, if not better than, anything you can buy!
Hydrogen Peroxide Mouthwash Recipe:
Dilute Hydrogen Peroxide to 1% – that’s it! You can add Mint extract for flavor or Tea Tree or Colloidal Silver for added protection. But really all you need is Hydrogen Peroxide and water.
How to dilute Hydrogen Peroxide to 1%
1 part 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to 3 parts water
or
1 part 6% Hydrogen Peroxide to 6 parts water
Use a 100ml squirt bottle for ease of use.
It is essential that you dilute Hydrogen Peroxide to 1% to avoid burning.
Now rinse! Swish the solution around your mouth for about 1 minute. It will foam up and get into those areas that are hard to clean. Do not swallow! Spit and rinse with a bit of water.

It’s been many more than 8 weeks and, although I got stuck somewhere in week 5, I’ve seen some good results with this program. I’ve added and increased a number foods like garlic, ginger, tofu and green tea. The walks have been harder to keep up in the winter with the cold, rainy and dark UK days, but I’m doing what I can. I have lost some weight (although I wasn’t trying to) and I have a lot more energy.
What has been life altering, are the breathing exercises and the introduction to Chinese Medicine. [Read more →]

I was visiting family this month and one of my sisters was two weeks into Dr Weil’s 8 Weeks to Optimum Health. Over the following three weeks we spent together I saw her lose weight and literally begin to glow. Needless to say, I picked up a copy of Dr. Weil’s book and read it on the flight home.
The book is an excellent example of a sensible approach to [Read more →]

Over the past six months we have seen prices of just about everything go up. If your like me you’ve been looking for ways to offset some of these rising costs. I’ve found cheaper insurance, I’ve been leaving the car at home and I’m shopping at the cheap grocery stores, buying bulk and taking advantage of sales. I’ve also changed my skin care regime! No more pricey lotions and potions. For the past two months I have used nothing but coconut oil mixed with a bit of almond oil on my skin. [Read more →]
